The Directorate General of Immigration is expanding the reach of the Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) market through a collaboration with VFS Global and has resulted in the issuance of 4,345 eVoAs applied for through the VFS Global platform during January to 21st May 2025. Although this number is relatively small compared to the total eVoAs issued for direct applications on the evisa.imigrasi.go.id website, the Directorate General of Immigration ensures that promotion and publication of eVOA and other Indonesian immigration services have reached Australia, India, the United Kingdom and the United States through VFS Global offices and promotional/publication channels and media. The Director of Cooperation and Representative Development, Arief Munandar, emphasized that the collaboration with VFS Global has a strategic role in expanding the reach of Indonesian electronic visa applications. "This collaboration is also a means of Indonesian public service diplomacy to the world," said Arief.
Data collected by the Directorate General of Immigration shows an increase in the issuance of eVoA submitted through the VFS Global platform in February-March 2025, so that it managed to reach an average of 1,000 eVOA per month, after the trial application period in December 2024 and January 2025. Meanwhile, the total entry and exit crossings through Immigration Checkpoints from January to the third week of May 2025 reached more than 12 million. On the same occasion, Head of Australasia VFS Global, Kaushik Gosh expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the cooperation that has been running effectively in the last four months. "We observe the potential growth of eVoA applicants through VFS, especially from India, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, even South Africa," he added. The meeting between the Directorate General of Immigration and VFS Global resulted in several important agreements, including the acceleration of the development of the reconciliation dashboard which is targeted to start in June 2025 and the preparation of a timeline for the promotion of immigration services by VFS Global.
