Piaggio Group reveals decarbonization plan starting in 2030

Piaggio Group has revealed its Decarbonization plan, a comprehensive initiative aimed at environmental sustainability. The program, extending to its Indonesian factory, underscores the company's commitment to reducing its ecological footprint. Over the years, Piaggio has made substantial strides in energy efficiency and emission reduction, evident in the Ponteder factory where Scope 1 emissions decreased by 56.2% through energy efficiency investments. Developed in collaboration with the European Investment Bank and consulting firm EY, the Decarbonization plan outlines a strategy to cut emissions by 42% in production activities by 2030, aligning with the Science-Based Targets initiative and the Paris Agreement. The plan encompasses sustainable renovations, photovoltaic installations, energy-efficient practices, and a shift to alternative fuels and electric vehicles.
Looking ahead to 2050, Piaggio Group sets an ambitious target of a 90% reduction in emissions. This long-term goal involves a mix of eFuel, biofuel, electric vehicles, renewable energy, and sustainable practices, demonstrating the company's commitment to environmental responsibility. Piaggio's contributions extend beyond its ecological pursuits; it donated €250,000 to the Restart Fund in Pontedera, showcasing its dedication to supporting local communities affected by natural disasters. Through its innovative and responsible approach, Piaggio Group is aligning its operations with global environmental needs while reinforcing its commitment to societal and environmental well-being.
