Giovanni De Cecco, pianist and clavichord player. He studied privately with Venetian organist Maestro Giovanni Ferrari, and then graduated in Piano Performance from the “Benedetto Marcello” Conservatory in Venice with Anna Barutti. Meanwhile he graduated in Philosophy from the “Ca’Foscari” University of the same city. He started his musical career with ethnomusicologica journeys following Bela Bartók’s footsteps in Romania, studying Romanian and Hungarian traditional music. In concert halls he performed his own arrangements of Romanian musical folklore, in various Klezmer and chamber ensembles. He is a passionate player of historical keyboards, primarily clavichord, above all of the Galant style and Sturm und Drang repertoire. Giovanni De Cecco has performed in Germany, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Iran, Turkey, the United States, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong. In November 2016 the Italian label La Bottega Discantica produced his clavichord album “Bach Venetian concertos”. In 2019, for the Italian label Da Vinci Classic, he recorded the double album “6 concerti per il cembalo concertato” by C.Ph.E. Bach at the clavichord. For the same label, in 2022 he finished the first world recording of the whole Mozart keyboard sonatas at the clavichord (6 albums).

Piano recital by Giovanni De Cecco, dedicated to Schubert. The pieces that make up the programme of this concert are among the best known of Franz Peter Schubert's piano music production. Their success is due to numerous historical reasons; in the space of a few decades they became part of the repertoire of most pianists, both because of their capacity to be enjoyed in 'salon' contexts due to their melodic freshness and relative brevity, and because they provide an artistic pinnacle of the piano style at the transition between the era of Classicism (Mozart, Beethoven) and that of Romanticism (Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann).
