Piaggio Opens 314 Billion IDR Factory in Cikarang

Piaggio Indonesia, which oversees the Vespa, Piaggio, Aprillia, and Moto Guzzi brands, inaugurated a factory in Indonesia located in the Jababeka Industrial Area, Cikarang, West Java. The assembly plant cost US$20 million, or around IDR 314 billion. The inauguration of the Piaggio factory was attended by Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang and Marco Noto La Diega, Managing Director and Country CEO of Piaggio Indonesia.

Marco Noto La Diega said that this was a new chapter for the Piaggio Group in competing in the Indonesian motorcycle industry. "This shows how important Indonesia is for us," said Marco in Cikarang on Wednesday (November 24). The groundbreaking for the new Vespa factory was held in November 2021. The factory sits on an area of six hectares with a production capacity of 10 thousand units per year. Meanwhile, the first model that was born was the LX-125 i-Gets, and the first production has been carried out since November 2022.
Agus Gumiwang appreciated the inauguration of the first Piaggio in Indonesia. According to Agus, the construction of this factory has also felt quite fast since the laying of the first stone last year, and now it is already operational. "Finally, we can see the Piaggio Group factory in Indonesia," said Agus. Agus added that through this factory, it is hoped that Piaggio will be more successful in the competitive automotive industry, especially in the motorcycle sector in Indonesia.
