Piaggio Indonesia Introduces the Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport, an Agile and Light Three-Wheeled Scooter Variant

PT Piaggio Indonesia presents the latest Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport, which adds to the Piaggio brand portfolio in the market. The new Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport is a vehicle with a compact, sporty, and dynamic design while still prioritizing comfort and high-level performance like the Gran Turismo scooter. The Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport is designed using Piaggio's exclusive three-wheeled technology, where a quadrilateral suspension system in the front view along with the dual front wheels are unique and distinctive elements that make the driving experience of the Piaggio MP3 very unique. supported by more cornering stability than other scooters, as well as optimal performance in wet asphalt conditions or in bad braking conditions. "The latest Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport consistently proves PT Piaggio Indonesia's ongoing commitment to presenting a variety of sophisticated vehicles for smart urban mobility solutions. "We are pleased to be able to provide the best driving experience in the most comfortable, fashionable, and sophisticated way." said Marco Noto La Diega, Managing Director and Country CEO of PT Piaggio Indonesia, as quoted by INDUSTRY.co.id, Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport has a modern and sporty design that harmoniously combines an aggressive front with a slim and light rear. The front visor retains the hallmark of the Piaggio MP3 maxi-scooter family: the center is dominated by the dual headlights, complemented by high-efficiency LED daytime running lights, modernizing the front face.

The characteristic "tie" divides the headlights and connects between the grille and the windshield to ensure the best possible protection. Contributing to slimming the front face as well as making the dual front wheels look unique are the mud guards with a sporty design that are painted in harmony with the body as well as the alloy wheels with a separate five-spoke design. To complement the aggressive front end, there is a thin and tapered tail that elegantly accommodates a comfortable grip for the occupants, topped off by a modern and luxurious rear light array marked by LED parking and brake lights. Just like the previous product generation, the latest Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport feels comfortable and very functional. The seats, with separate two-tiered seats, are shaped for comfort and safety when in contact with the ground, as well as to guarantee adequate seating support for the rider. The passenger's seating position is sloping and relaxed, thanks to the practical folding footboard, which, when closed, blends perfectly with the fairing. The combined braking system pedal, on the right footboard, has been repositioned for better global riding ergonomics. The compartment under the seat is very spacious. The seat has springs to hold it in the open position. The practical and detached bag hook is designed to be integrated with the back plate of the gaiter. Under the dashboard of the instrument is a handy glove compartment with a drawer and a USB connection, ideal for recharging smartphones and other devices. The Piaggio MP3 HPE features the latest evolution of the Piaggio 300 cc single cylinder, 4 stroke, 4 valve, liquid cooled engine with electronic injection, the result of trials by the Piaggio Group research team and known as the 300 HPE (High Performance Engine). This unit benefits from ongoing research aimed at improving performance while reducing fuel consumption. Maximum engine power is up to 19 kW (25.8 HP) at 7,750 rpm, and maximum torque is up to 26.1 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The main objective of this project was to optimize the thermodynamic output and reduce engine friction and noise while at the same time increasing performance and general drivability.
The head section is the result of a completely new look and is characterized by completely redesigned internal components: the geometry and diameter of the ducts have been changed, and the intake and exhaust valves have had their diameters increased by 3 mm. The use of pistons with a redesigned architecture, especially on the top shape, results in a very efficient combustion chamber. The single camshaft system with overhead valves features rockers with rolled tappets instead of flat tappets, all to smooth out engine vibrations, enhance durability, and minimize mechanical losses. The camshaft profile is designed to achieve a greater angle over stroke while reducing noise generated by combustion distribution: more angle over stroke valve time guarantees a greater filling of the combustion chamber, which means better efficiency. As a result, the load and dimensions of the valve springs also increase. The introduction of high-pressure multi-jet injectors also helped improve combustion performance. The wide inlet, complemented by channels of optimized length, increases the torque generated at low revs and ensures a very smooth ride at any speed. Last, but not least, iridium ignition spark plugs ensure greater durability under the same operating conditions. The many changes to the engine have also enhanced its already legendary reliability, and a true testament to this is the fact that routine servicing is scheduled every 10,000 kilometers.

The engine is controlled by the latest generation Magneti Marelli MIUG4 ECU, which features greater calculating capacity, which contributes to increasing overall engine efficiency and also allows the engine to be started almost instantly, after just two crankshaft revolutions. With updates to the engine, the Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport adopts an ABS anti-lock braking system integrated with ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation) traction control. ASR (first installed on a scooter by Piaggio) can be easily removed and ensures safety by keeping the rear wheels from sliding on dangerous surfaces, such as wet asphalt.
The three-channel ABS system, developed in collaboration with the tire company Continental, maximizes active safety features by preventing wheel blockage when braking and giving complete control of the vehicle at all times. The Piaggio MP3 uses an all-disc braking system on all three wheels, with a disc diameter of 258 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. Greater safety and a smoother ride are provided by the large 13-inch diameter front wheels. The Piaggio MP3 also finds success thanks to Piaggio's exclusive patented technology for independent dual front wheels and tilt-adjustable unique four-bar linkage suspension, which was designed and developed by Europe's leading group before any other manufacturer in the world to ensure maximum driving pleasure with safety. guaranteed.

The reel mechanism consists of four aluminium arms fused on four hinges, which are securely connected to the center sleeve, and two side sleeves connected to the arms via a shaft and ball bearings. Inside the side arms, the right and left steering tubes rotate in a classic single arm arrangement. The blocking mechanism for the front suspension, a distinguishing feature of the Italian three-wheeled scooter, changes the balance of the Piaggio MP3 300 HP from dynamic to static. Start the vehicle and stay balanced on three wheels without needing support (while still attached). To resume normal driving, accelerate or use the special push button. The Piaggio MP3 300 HP Sport stands out thanks to its various details, which have a matt black finish, such as the "tie" on the visor, stripes on the center tunnel, and the passenger grip area. Its sporty look is even more charming with the front and rear shock absorber springs painted in red, the color that also appears on the contrasting seat seams. Disc front brakes with a wave profile and toeboards with aluminium inserts are included as standard. Two color schemes are available: Blu Oxygen and Argento Cometa.
