The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM has identified Central Java Province as a prime investment destination in Indonesia. Saribua Siahaan, the Ministry's Director of Investment Promotion for Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, stated in Semarang on Tuesday that many investors are showing interest in the region. He made these remarks during a meeting with Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, as part of a series of field assessments conducted by the Ministry in the province.
According to him, factors such as full support from the provincial government, adequate infrastructure, streamlined licensing processes, a favorable business climate, and competitive living costs serve as key attractions for foreign investors. "Central Java is a prime destination; in addition to excellent infrastructure, the regional governance and licensing systems are strong, and living costs are competitive, making it an attractive choice for investors," he said.
He stated that promoting Central Java's investment potential to prospective investors is quite straightforward given these indicators. Based on his experience in promoting investment opportunities and persuading investors, land and licensing issues stand out as key factors. This ease of doing business, he added, stems from strong collaboration between the Central Java Provincial Government—specifically the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP)—and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming. He acknowledged that Central Java’s characteristics also make it highly attractive for investment in the manufacturing sector and labor-intensive industries.
