North Kalimantan Offers Strategic Investment Opportunities to Dozens of Ambassadors

North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang offered various strategic investment opportunities to dozens of ambassadors and representatives from friendly countries, including those from the Netherlands, Australia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, India, and China."Yesterday (Tuesday), I presented various strategic investment opportunities in North Kalimantan to the ambassadors," said North Kalimantan Governor Zainal A. Paliwang when confirmed in Tanjung Selor on Wednesday.

Zainal explained that before the diplomats and businesspeople, he outlined investment potential in North Kalimantan, including green energy, infrastructure, industrial downstreaming, maritime affairs, manufacturing, and agribusiness, which are considered to have significant prospects for development in North Kalimantan. Previously, the North Kalimantan Governor was invited by the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) to participate in a collaboration exploration agenda at the 2026 Apindo National Working Meeting and Consultation (Rakerkonas) at the Claro Hotel in Makassar on Tuesday (August 4). During the event, the North Kalimantan Governor had the opportunity to present on investment opportunities and potential in North Kalimantan.

North Kalimantan, he continued, has a strategic position because it borders Malaysia and the Philippines. As a developing province, he added, North Kalimantan also offers investment opportunities with a low level of competition. "Because North Kalimantan is a new province, there are no competitors in various sectors. If investors come in early and are serious, we, the local government, are ready to fully assist with all matters," he said.

In the energy sector, Governor Zainal explained the construction of the Mentarang Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) and the Kayan River Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) with a total capacity of 9,000 megawatts to support the electricity needs of the Indonesian Green Industrial Zone (KIHI). Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, investment opportunities include the construction of a Type B Hospital in Tanjung Selor and a toll road connecting Tanjung Selor to the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
