Indonesia and Croatia Agree to Accelerate MoU on Migrant Workers for the Hospitality Sector

Indonesia and Croatia have agreed to fast-track the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the placement and protection of Indonesian migrant workers, with a specific focus on the hospitality and tourism sectors. This bilateral commitment aims to establish a clear, structured legal framework to meet Croatia's growing demand for skilled service hospitality professionals while fully ensuring the safety, rights, and welfare of Indonesian laborers working overseas. By streamlining government-to-government (G2G) recruitment mechanisms, the agreement seeks to prevent illegal placement channels and create a more transparent deployment process.

This strategic cooperation highlights Indonesia's expanding role as a key provider of professional talent to the European labor market, moving beyond traditional regional destinations. For Croatia, partnering with Indonesia offers a stable supply of well-trained personnel to support its thriving Mediterranean tourism economy, while for Indonesia, it opens up lucrative, regulated career paths for its domestic workforce. Global human resource firms, international hospitality networks, and labor policy analysts should monitor this development closely, as the upcoming MoU establishes a modern framework for cross-border talent mobility between Southeast Asia and the European Union.
