Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade is working to finalize revisions to the country’s e-commerce regulations this week as part of efforts to create a healthier and more balanced digital trade ecosystem. The updated rules are expected to improve transparency between online platforms and sellers, strengthen consumer protection, and support domestic businesses, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Authorities stated that discussions with marketplace operators, sellers, and related stakeholders are continuing to ensure fair and sustainable implementation.
The revised regulation will also encourage digital platforms to prioritize local products and improve complaint handling systems with clearer service standards. The government emphasized that the new framework is designed to benefit all parties involved in e-commerce activities, including consumers, sellers, and platform providers, while supporting the long-term growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.
