Indonesia’s economy expanded by 5.61% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, marking the country’s strongest quarterly growth since the third quarter of 2022. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that the growth reflected resilient domestic demand, improving investment activity, and stronger export performance despite ongoing global economic uncertainty. Household consumption remained one of the main contributors, supported by stable inflation and increasing public spending during the Ramadan and Eid periods.
The government also highlighted the positive contribution of strategic downstream industries, infrastructure development, and manufacturing activities in maintaining economic momentum. Indonesia’s economic performance outpaced several major economies in the region, reinforcing investor confidence and supporting long-term national growth targets. The administration remains focused on strengthening productivity, expanding employment opportunities, and maintaining macroeconomic stability to sustain inclusive economic development throughout 2026.
