The Indonesian government has officially extended safeguard import duties on curtain and related textile product imports until 2028 through Finance Ministry Regulation (PMK) No. 36/2026. The policy covers products such as curtains, blinds, bed valances, and similar furnishing items under several tariff classifications. The measure was introduced to support domestic manufacturers and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s textile industry amid rising import pressure.
Under the new regulation, safeguard duties will apply for two years, starting from May 22, 2026. The tariff is set at IDR 9,841 per kilogram for the first year and IDR 9,248 per kilogram for the second year, lower than the previous safeguard rates imposed under earlier regulations. The government stated that the extension provides local industries with additional time to complete structural adjustments, improve operational resilience, and maintain sustainable growth in the domestic market.
