President Prabowo Subianto announced a new government regulation requiring state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to become the sole exporters of several strategic natural resource commodities, including palm oil, coal, and ferroalloys. The policy aims to strengthen export governance, improve transparency, and optimize state revenue by tightening supervision over commodity trade and reducing practices such as under-invoicing and transfer pricing.
The Indonesian government stated that the new export framework is designed to protect national interests and ensure better monitoring of how the country’s natural resources are sold internationally. The initiative is also expected to support fiscal stability, improve export management efficiency, and reinforce Indonesia’s position as a leading global commodity producer through stronger state coordination and oversight.
