Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ASEAN cooperation on food and energy security amid ongoing geopolitical challenges affecting global supply chains and commodity prices. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of an integrated regional approach covering food supplies, fertilizer availability, logistics, and price stability to maintain resilience across Southeast Asia.
Indonesia is also encouraging ASEAN members to improve coordination, strengthen emergency food reserves, and enhance monitoring systems to prevent future food crises. The country continues to promote the implementation of the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Strengthening Food Security and Nutrition introduced during Indonesia’s 2023 ASEAN chairmanship. Discussions at recent ASEAN meetings also highlighted the need to diversify fertilizer and energy supply sources while maintaining open and stable regional markets.
