Indonesia Plans Sumatra Oil Storage Facility to Strengthen Energy Reserves

Indonesia is preparing to develop a new oil storage facility on Nipah Island, Riau Islands Province, as part of efforts to strengthen national energy security and improve strategic reserves. The project is expected to support the country’s long-term energy resilience by increasing domestic storage capacity and improving fuel supply management. The government highlighted that the facility will play an important role in maintaining stable energy distribution and supporting future economic growth.

The initiative also reflects Indonesia’s commitment to building more reliable energy infrastructure while attracting potential investment opportunities in the energy sector. By expanding strategic reserves and enhancing logistics capabilities, the country aims to reduce vulnerability to global supply disruptions and strengthen its position in regional energy cooperation. The project is expected to contribute positively to national energy sustainability and economic development.
