Indonesia Expected to Become the World’s Fourth-Largest Aviation Market by 2030

Indonesia is projected to become the world’s fourth-largest aviation market by 2030, reflecting the country’s rapid growth in air transportation demand and expanding domestic connectivity. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the country’s aviation sector is expected to continue strengthening alongside rising passenger mobility, economic development, and increasing investment in aerospace infrastructure. The Indonesian government views the aviation industry as a strategic sector that can support national economic growth and regional connectivity.

To support this growth, Indonesia is strengthening cooperation with global aircraft manufacturer Airbus through a Joint Declaration of Intent involving the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). The partnership aims to enhance technology transfer, human resource development, maintenance and repair capabilities, and domestic aerospace manufacturing capacity. The collaboration is also expected to position Indonesia as an important aerospace hub in the Asia-Pacific region while increasing opportunities for local industry participation in the global aviation supply chain.
