President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to making major investments in the maritime and fisheries sectors to strengthen the national blue economy. During his visit to the Red and White Fishermen Village in Gorontalo, he emphasized that global demand for fish protein continues to rise, creating strong opportunities for Indonesia to expand its fisheries industry and improve the welfare of coastal communities. The government plans to accelerate fisheries development through infrastructure improvement, fishing vessel distribution, and expanded support for fishermen cooperatives.

The administration is also targeting the operation of 1,386 Red and White Fishermen Villages this year, followed by the development of an additional 1,000 villages annually. Indonesia’s vast marine resources are considered a strategic advantage that can support sustainable economic growth, strengthen food security, and reduce dependence on foreign vessels in national waters. Through long-term maritime investment and community empowerment programs, Indonesia aims to position the marine economy as one of the country’s future economic growth drivers.
