Indonesia’s creative economy is gaining stronger recognition as a major driver of national economic growth, supported by rising investment, expanding employment opportunities, and stronger government commitment. Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya highlighted that the sector has exceeded several national development targets, with creative economy investment reaching IDR 90.12 trillion in the first half of 2025, while employment in the sector surpassed 27 million workers. The government also plans to strengthen financing access for creative businesses through intellectual property-based funding programs and expanded support for local creative industries.
The sector’s growth is closely tied to Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, which continues to inspire innovation across fashion, crafts, culinary arts, publishing, and digital creative industries. The government believes the creative economy can increase Indonesia’s competitiveness in global markets while creating sustainable jobs, especially for young people and women. Through stronger collaboration, business forums, and export promotion programs, Indonesia aims to position its creative industry as a resilient and future-oriented pillar of the national economy.
