Indonesia Reviews EV Incentives to Strengthen Industry and Reduce Energy Costs

The Indonesian government is currently evaluating a range of incentives for electric vehicles (EVs) as part of efforts to strengthen domestic industry performance and reduce national energy costs. The discussion involves key ministries, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry, focusing on policies that can accelerate EV adoption while supporting manufacturing resilience and employment.

Officials stated that the proposed incentives are aligned with broader national goals to lower fuel consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and ease the burden of energy subsidies amid global oil price pressures. The policy is also expected to support industrial transformation by encouraging a shift toward cleaner transportation and improving long-term economic efficiency.
