The Indonesian government is enhancing import supervision by integrating findings from the Indonesian Quarantine Agency with direct inspections conducted by the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH). Under this new mechanism, any indication of non-compliance identified during quarantine checks will immediately trigger follow-up inspections targeting importers, ensuring stricter enforcement of halal standards alongside health requirements.
This policy aims to close regulatory gaps where products previously passed health checks but did not fully meet halal compliance. The strengthened system introduces multi-layered monitoring, including inspections at entry points and pre-border checks in countries of origin. The initiative reflects Indonesia’s commitment to improving product integrity, consumer protection, and regulatory transparency, while supporting a more robust and trusted import ecosystem.
