Indonesia is strengthening the role of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as a key strategic policy to accelerate national economic transformation. The government views SEZs as catalysts for new growth by promoting industrialization, increasing value-added production, and enhancing regional economic structures. This initiative aligns with national directives to build a more competitive and resilient economy while encouraging balanced development across regions.
SEZ development has already shown positive progress, attracting significant investment and generating employment opportunities. As of early 2026, SEZs contributed around IDR 353 trillion in investment and created nearly 273,000 jobs, reflecting their growing impact on economic expansion. The government continues to prioritize SEZs as hubs for high-quality investment, global value chain integration, and sustainable industrial growth, supported by workforce development and improved infrastructure.
