Indonesia is strengthening diplomatic engagement with China to restore and stabilize its edible bird’s nest exports after recent trade disruptions linked to stricter import requirements. The government is actively negotiating with Chinese authorities to address technical and food safety standards, particularly related to aluminum residue limits, which have impacted several Indonesian exporters. Officials emphasize that the goal is to ensure smoother market access while maintaining compliance with mutually agreed standards and protecting the competitiveness of Indonesia’s premium bird’s nest industry.
As part of its strategy, Indonesia is conducting technical audits, laboratory testing, and bilateral consultations to build scientific evidence supporting negotiations with China. The government is also encouraging exporters to diversify markets while continuing to prioritize China as a key destination due to its strong demand. This diplomatic push reflects Indonesia’s broader effort to safeguard export performance, strengthen trade relations, and maintain long-term stability in one of its most valuable agricultural export sectors.
