A slight decline in Batam’s export performance has been recorded in early 2026, with total exports reaching around USD 3.11 billion during January–February, down about 3.67% compared to the same period last year. Despite this moderation, the overall industrial base continues to show strong resilience, with several key sectors maintaining positive growth and supporting export stability.
Growth has been observed in sectors such as electrical machinery, vegetable and animal oils, tobacco, chemicals, and optical equipment, indicating sustained industrial activity. While certain commodities like ships, cocoa, and steel contributed to the decline, export performance to major markets such as the United States increased by around 30%, reinforcing demand strength. Monthly data also shows improvement, with February exports rising approximately 4.4% year-on-year, highlighting a positive recovery trend.
