Indonesia is preparing 3.5 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) to support the implementation of its mandatory B50 biodiesel program starting July 1, 2026. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to advancing energy resilience by increasing the use of plant-based fuel, with approximately 5.3 million tons of CPO to be converted into biofuel as part of the policy. This strategic move aligns with national efforts to reduce reliance on fossil fuels while ensuring sustainable domestic energy supply.
The country’s robust production capacity—supported by rising global demand and improved agricultural productivity—allows Indonesia to allocate CPO for biofuel without disrupting export performance. With exports increasing from 26 million tons to 32 million tons, the government remains confident in balancing domestic energy needs and international trade. The program is expected to strengthen energy security, enhance farmer welfare, and stimulate economic activity in palm oil-producing regions.
