Indonesia is strengthening its strategy to diversify steel export destinations by targeting the Middle East, aiming to reduce reliance on a single major market and enhance industry resilience. The government emphasized the importance of broadening export reach to mitigate risks associated with overdependence, particularly as global economic conditions remain dynamic.
The Middle East is seen as a promising market due to its growing demand for steel driven by infrastructure and industrial development. In 2025, Indonesia’s steel exports reached approximately USD 29.7 billion, with a significant portion still concentrated in one country. By expanding into new regions, Indonesia is positioning its steel industry for more balanced growth, improved stability, and stronger long-term competitiveness.
