NTB Accelerates Fishery Downstreaming to Capitalize on 185,518-Ton Production Potential

The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government is strategically prioritizing the development of a robust fishery downstreaming industry to optimize its vast capture fishery potential of 185,518 tons. This initiative aims to transform the region from a raw material producer into a hub for high-value processed marine products. By establishing local processing facilities, the province seeks to enhance the economic value of its catch and create more industrial job opportunities for the local community. These efforts are expected to significantly boost the region's contribution to Indonesia’s national maritime economy.

The government is actively inviting private investors to collaborate on the development of modern cold storage and canning infrastructure. Strategic focus is being placed on key commodities such as tuna and seaweed to meet the rigorous quality standards of international export markets. Collaborative programs with central authorities are also being intensified to streamline the logistics chain from coastal landing sites to industrial zones. Moving forward, the synergy between increased production capacity and advanced industrial processing will be essential in positioning NTB as a competitive player in the global seafood supply chain.
