Indonesia is intensifying efforts to strengthen its halal industry ecosystem in preparation for mandatory halal certification set to take effect on October 18, 2026. The government is focusing on building an integrated system from upstream to downstream, ensuring industries are fully prepared while positioning the country as a leading global halal hub. This strategy is supported by strong domestic demand and the growing global trend of halal as part of a modern lifestyle.
The Ministry of Industry is implementing the Halal Industry Development Roadmap 2025–2029, prioritizing sectors such as food and beverages, textiles, apparel, leather, and footwear. With halal product exports reaching USD 8.28 billion in 2024, Indonesia is leveraging this momentum to boost competitiveness and expand global reach. Collaborative efforts among government agencies, industry players, and supporting institutions are also enhancing certification readiness, despite challenges such as supply chain integration, ultimately turning certification into a strategic advantage for national industry growth.
