Indonesia to Roll Out B50 Biodiesel Mandate from July

Indonesia is set to implement a B50 biodiesel blending mandate starting July 1, 2026, as part of its strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and manage rising energy costs. The government confirmed that state-owned energy company Pertamina is fully prepared to execute the program, which will increase the palm oil content in diesel to 50%.

The policy is expected to reduce fossil fuel consumption by around 4 million kiloliters annually and generate savings of up to IDR 48 trillion (USD 2.8 billion) within the first six months through lower fuel imports and subsidy costs. This initiative builds on Indonesia’s gradual transition from B30 to B40 and now B50, reinforcing national energy security while optimizing the use of domestic resources.
