The Indonesian Minister of Trade has urged the World Trade Organization (WTO) to address the logistical challenges hindering exports to the European Union market. During a strategic session, the Minister emphasized that high shipping costs and complex administrative procedures remain significant barriers for developing nations. Indonesia is calling for more equitable global trade rules that facilitate a more seamless flow of goods across international borders. By advocating for improved logistical efficiency, the government aims to reduce the operational burdens faced by domestic exporters seeking to penetrate the European region.
The Minister highlighted that a digitalized and integrated logistics framework is essential for maintaining the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Collaborative efforts between WTO member states are being encouraged to harmonize technical standards and simplify cross-border documentation. This diplomatic initiative underscores Indonesia's commitment to fostering a transparent and predictable global trading environment. Moving forward, the government remains optimistic that these multilateral discussions will lead to concrete solutions that bolster the nation’s non-oil and gas export performance in the Eurozone.
