Indonesia is strengthening its position in the global modest fashion industry by encouraging designers and small businesses to expand internationally and respond to the rising global demand for halal lifestyle products. The government, through the Ministry of Industry, highlights that modest fashion is becoming a major global trend supported by a growing Muslim population worldwide. Industry players are encouraged to innovate, enhance product quality, and develop designs that appeal to international markets while maintaining Indonesia’s distinctive cultural identity in textiles and fashion.
The global modest fashion market continues to grow rapidly, with Muslim consumer spending on fashion estimated at USD 318 billion in 2022 and projected to reach around USD 428 billion by 2027. Indonesia, currently ranked among the top countries in the modest fashion sector, sees significant opportunities to strengthen exports and expand its presence in key markets such as the Middle East and other Muslim-majority regions. By supporting SMEs and promoting Indonesian textiles and designs globally, the country aims to transform its strong domestic industry into a competitive international player.
