Indonesia is strengthening its position in the global Muslim fashion industry, also known as modest fashion, by leveraging its strong domestic industry and growing export performance. According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2024/2025, global spending on Muslim fashion reached USD 327 billion in 2023 and is projected to increase to USD 433 billion by 2028, creating significant opportunities for countries with strong textile and garment sectors.
Indonesia has shown promising progress, with modest fashion exports to member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaching USD 990 million in 2023, an increase of 83% compared with USD 540 million in 2022. Supported by around 594,000 small garment industries employing about 1.2 million workers, the country has strong capacity to become a leading global producer and trendsetter in modest fashion while expanding its international market presence.
