Pekalongan Regency in Central Java marked a positive milestone in international trade as its robusta coffee successfully entered the Greek market through the first export shipment of 2026. Around 19.8 tons of robusta coffee were exported through Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang and shipped to the Port of Thessaloniki in Greece, highlighting the growing global recognition of Indonesia’s regional coffee products. The shipment had an estimated value of about IDR 1.4 billion.
The exported coffee beans were collected from farmers across several districts in Pekalongan, particularly from key production areas known for their robusta cultivation. The export is expected to strengthen international demand and open wider market opportunities for local coffee producers. Local authorities also view this achievement as a revival of Pekalongan’s historical reputation as a coffee-exporting region to Europe while helping increase farmers’ income and expand the global reach of Indonesian coffee commodities.
