Indonesia has secured approximately USD 1.4 billion in foreign investment to support the expansion of its solar power infrastructure, reinforcing the country’s commitment to accelerating the transition toward renewable energy. Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani stated that the funding will be used to develop a manufacturing facility for solar power components with an annual production capacity of up to 50 gigawatts, supporting Indonesia’s large-scale solar energy development program.
The government is currently advancing a long-term initiative targeting up to 100 gigawatts of solar power capacity, with an initial development phase of around 13 gigawatts in areas that already have reliable electricity distribution networks. The program is also expected to prioritize rural electrification and will involve around 80,000 rural cooperatives, alongside energy storage systems totaling about 320 gigawatt-hours to ensure a stable power supply.
