Indonesia has emerged as the world’s largest pineapple producer, surpassing other nations with an annual production exceeding 3.2 million tons, showcasing the country’s robust horticulture sector and export potential. This milestone highlights Indonesia’s tropical agricultural strength and supports increased availability of nutritious fruit for both domestic and global markets.
A professor from IPB University noted that pineapples offer significant health benefits, including fiber for digestion, high vitamin C and B vitamin content, essential minerals such as potassium and magnesium, and the enzyme bromelain, which is linked to anti-inflammatory support and metabolic advantages. Such nutritional qualities underscore pineapple’s potential role in promoting healthier diets nationwide.
