The Papua Regional Food Task Force (Satgasda) has intensified its oversight of 14 strategic food commodities in Merauke Regency to ensure price stability and stock availability ahead of the Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah season. Led by Police Commissioner Rama Samtama Putra, the task force conducted comprehensive inspections at local markets and distributor warehouses to prevent market manipulation and sudden price surges. Current monitoring indicates that essential goods such as rice, chili, onions, and beef are within safe price ranges, although some minor administrative adjustments are needed for retailers. This proactive measure is part of a broader commitment to maintaining a conducive business environment and protecting consumer purchasing power during high-demand religious holidays.
In addition to market surveillance, the task force verified that distributor stocks for premium rice, cooking oil, and sugar remain at secure levels to meet regional demand. The inspection at Wamanggu Market specifically aimed to bridge the gap between retailers and official distribution partners like Bulog, particularly for price-regulated products like Minyakita. To support local businesses, the task force is facilitating the issuance of business identification numbers (NIB) so that independent retailers can officially partner with government supply chains. Through integrated cross-sector coordination and transparent reporting, the Papua Food Task Force continues to safeguard the food supply chain across South Papua. This collaborative effort ensures that both the business community and the public can navigate the festive season with confidence in market stability.
