The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has officially opened recruitment for 3,000 local workers to support the Integrated Shrimp Farming (ISF) project in Waingapu, East Sumba. This strategic initiative aims to bolster the national aquaculture sector by providing specialized, free-of-charge training for the local workforce. Selected participants will undergo a comprehensive curriculum—including theoretical classes, practical field sessions, and internships at partner farms—designed to meet rigorous industry standards and ensure technical competency in modern shrimp cultivation.
This program offers various professional roles, such as pond operators, aquaculture technicians, laboratory assistants, and harvest specialists. By equipping local talent with certified skills and industry-standard expertise, the KKP seeks to enhance regional economic growth while securing a sustainable supply chain for Indonesia’s shrimp industry. This recruitment underscores the government’s commitment to transforming East Sumba into a hub for advanced aquaculture, allowing the younger generation to contribute to national food security without having to seek employment far from home.
