Indonesian Manufacturing PMI Strengthens to 52.6 Level in Early 2026

The Indonesian Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was recorded in the expansion zone in January 2026, rising to 52.6 from 51.2 in the previous month. This strengthening serves as evidence that the national industrial fundamentals remain secure despite challenges from global supply chain disruptions and weakening export orders. High domestic demand and increased production output have become the primary engines driving optimism among manufacturing industry players in the country. The government is committed to further strengthening the business climate by accelerating the resolution of various obstacles to ensure industrial competitiveness remains solid in the international market.

For association members and business players, the strengthening of this manufacturing index reflects recovered consumer confidence supported by increased real sales across various sectors. Motor vehicle sales and electricity consumption in the business segment also show positive trends aligned with the vitality of national economic activity. Despite annual inflationary pressures, price decreases in several food commodities provide room to maintain broad community purchasing power. With sustained economic stability, the manufacturing sector is projected to remain a major pillar of Indonesia's economic growth throughout 2026.
