The Provincial Government of Central Java continues to push for improving the quality of its agricultural products to enable them to penetrate foreign markets. In fact, in the third quarter of 2025, the total exports of agricultural products (plants, fish, and animals) as well as MSMEs from Central Java reached IDR 18.2 trillion. The Head of Central Java’s Agriculture and Plantation Office, Defransisco Dasilva, noted that agricultural production in Central Java has already been able to meet domestic demand. Thus, the opportunity to export agricultural products to other regions or overseas becomes increasingly large.
However, that potential still faces challenges related to quantity, quality, and product continuity. Therefore, farmers are encouraged to organize in farmer groups (gapoktan) to achieve a larger business scale, enabling them to meet the capacity requirements demanded by foreign buyers. The government’s support includes facilitating post-harvest processes — such as packaging houses, cold storage, drying units — and conducting training on good handling practices (GHP). There is also support for processing, such as providing coffee roasting and grinding machines, as well as training on quality standards and halal certification.
