The Jambi provincial government has dispatched a shipment of 36 tons of areca nut to Bangladesh, with a total value of approximately IDR 1.3 billion. This export release was carried out at Talang Duku Port in Jambi on Tuesday, as part of a collaborative effort between the government, private exporters, and local communities to boost export performance in the region, said the Regional Secretary of Jambi, Sudirman.
Sudirman expressed deep appreciation to all parties involved, particularly the exporting companies. He remarked that the eastern coastal areas of Jambi are known as the largest producers of areca nut in Indonesia. He added that this export milestone provides new momentum to expand export networks, increase added value, and ultimately enhance the welfare of Jambi’s people. Meanwhile, the head of the Badan Penyuluhan dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Pertanian (BPPSDMP) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Idha Widi Arsanti, said that the central government continues to open access to overseas markets through trade agreements and export promotion. Global demand for areca nut remains promising, especially from countries such as India, Iran, and Bangladesh.
