The Indonesian Herbal Medicine Association (PPJAI) is advancing its global expansion with strategic efforts to introduce Jamu products to the United States through Amazon’s e-commerce platform. The delegation, led by PPJAI Advisory Chair Mukit Hendrayatno and Chairman Heri Susanto, conducted an intensive visit to the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Silicon Valley to finalize logistics, storage, and distribution procedures under the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) system. This initiative provides direct access to international consumers while ensuring compliance with global logistics standards. The team also engaged with the Indonesian Embassy in the US to address export regulations, including FDA requirements, emphasizing that all PPJAI member products comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Visits to innovation hubs like Google and Meta enabled the delegation to explore digital marketing strategies and strengthen branding, ensuring Jamu’s modern, health-focused image resonates with global audiences.
This global push represents a historic milestone for the Indonesian herbal medicine industry, combining diplomatic support, regulatory readiness, and international-standard logistics. Preparations for the first Amazon launch include finalizing product standardization, packaging adaptation, and export documentation. With a comprehensive strategy, PPJAI aims to position Jamu Indonesia as a global health icon rooted in local wisdom. The first shipments to Amazon Fulfillment are not only a product distribution milestone but also mark the start of Indonesia’s heritage becoming part of international lifestyle and wellness markets. Through this initiative, Jamu Indonesia is set to compete on a global stage alongside leading health and wellness products while preserving its cultural legacy.
