Coordinating Minister Airlangga Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Attract High-Quality Investment

At a joint investment promotion event held in Singapore on November 18, 2025, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized the government's strong commitment to attracting “high-quality” foreign investment. The focus is on strategic collaboration with Singapore, especially in the Batam, Bintan, and Karimun (BBK) Free Trade Zone, backed by newly introduced 2025 regulations to make the business environment more attractive and reliable. Airlangga highlighted that Indonesia and Singapore, through their 6-Working Group (6WG) bilateral economic framework, are deepening cooperation in industrial infrastructure, green economy, healthcare services, and strengthening supply chain resilience — all aimed at sustainable growth.

Furthermore, the Indonesian government has issued several regulatory reforms to support this push: Risk-based licensing under Government Regulations (PP) No. 25 and No. 28 of 2025, Service Level Agreements (SLA) to streamline permits, and special Presidential Regulations (Perpres) to guide land planning and SEZ development. These reforms have already yielded results: investment in the BBK zone jumped from US$1.74 billion in 2023 to US$3.26 billion in 2024, while tourist arrivals in Riau Islands hit 1.67 million.
