Tangerang City showed an impressive performance in international trade by recording an export value of USD 3.6 billion during the first half of 2025. This achievement was supported by the issuance of 28,599 Certificates of Origin (SKA), which is the main requirement for exports abroad. The Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs Office of Tangerang City noted that this increase in export value reflects the healthier growth of the local economy as well as the improved competitiveness of domestic industrial products in the global market.
The mainstay export products from Tangerang City include textiles and garments, plastic products, and processed marine products such as fish and shrimp. These commodities are sent to various main destination countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Suli Rosadi, Head of the Tangerang City SME Disperindagkop, emphasised that the city government continues to strengthen the competitiveness of the industrial sector, both in terms of production quality and global market access. This is done through business mentoring, trade promotion, and digitalisation of export licensing services. The export achievement in the first half of 2025 placed Tangerang City as one of the largest non-oil and gas foreign exchange contributors in Banten Province. The local government is optimistic that export performance will continue to increase until the end of the year, along with strengthening foreign trade cooperation and increasing the capacity of small and medium industries (IKM).
