East Kalimantan (Kaltim) recorded a positive achievement in early 2025. In the first three months, total investment entering Bumi Etam reached IDR 19.82 trillion. This figure grew 15.57% compared to the same period last year. The Head of the East Kalimantan Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP), Fahmi Prima Laksana, said that this realization was equivalent to 24.82% of the annual investment target of IDR 79.86 trillion. "This increase shows that the investment climate in East Kalimantan is increasingly healthy and competitive," he said in an official statement, Wednesday (6/18/2025). In terms of Domestic Investment (PMDN), Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar) dominated with a value of IDR 3.47 trillion or 27.54% of East Kalimantan's total PMDN.
The mining sector is still the mainstay. This sub-sector contributed IDR 6.94 trillion or 55.08 percent of the total PMDN, while absorbing 4,316 workers. The food industry is in second place with IDR 1.07 trillion (8.52%).
In the Foreign Investment (PMA) sector, Singapore is ranked first with an investment value of USD 163.13 million or 36.19% of the total PMA. Followed by Mauritius with USD 90.73 million (20.12%) and China with USD 47.97 million (10.64%). Total PMA in the first quarter reached USD 450.82 million (IDR 7.21 trillion), spread across 875 projects. Of this amount, 10,141 Indonesian workers and 42 foreign workers were absorbed. Regionally, East Kutai recorded the highest absorption of foreign workers from PMA, namely 3,302 people, followed by Kukar (2,805) and West Kutai (2,249). Nationally, East Kalimantan is ranked 6th for PMDN. The total absorption of workers from investment during January-March 2025 reached 22,181 people. The achievement in the first quarter is said to be a strong capital to pursue the annual target. The East Kalimantan Provincial Government is optimistic that the target of IDR 79.86 trillion can be achieved, and even has the potential to exceed it.
