In September 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with all Indonesian embassies in Latin American and Caribbean countries, will host an annual business forum. This forum will take the form of the Indonesia-Latin America and the Caribbean (INA-LAC) Business Mission, which will be held in São Paulo, Brazil. Therefore, on 5 June 2025, during a courtesy visit by Guatemalan Ambassador to Indonesia Maynor Jacobo Cuyún Salguerro, Foreign Minister Sugiono invited Guatemalan business leaders to participate in the event. Ambassador Cuyún is currently serving as Chair of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors (GRULAC) in Jakarta. During the meeting, Sugiono also expressed appreciation for the significant progress in bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Guatemala, particularly in the economic sector.
Over the past five years (2020-2024), two-way trade value increased by 41.9% and reached a record high of USD 237 million in 2024. To maintain this positive trend, Sugiono urged an increase in the intensity of business-to-business relations to open up new opportunities in trade and investment. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Sugiono and Ambassador Cuyún discussed opportunities and potential for strengthening the partnership between Indonesia and the Latin American and Caribbean region.
