President Prabowo Releases First Export of 1,200 Tons of Corn to Malaysia, the Beginning of the Journey to the World's Food Barn

President Prabowo Subianto officially released the departure of the first export of 1,200 tons of corn from Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan, to Kuching, Malaysia, on Thursday (05/06/2025). In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the first export. The Head of State said that the momentum of this export will continue to be strengthened through the development of village cooperatives and a wider and more sustainable production chain. "This will continue to be the momentum for the future, with us later holding 80 thousand village cooperatives throughout Indonesia," said President Prabowo in his remarks at the inauguration of the Corn Dryer Warehouse owned by PT. Pangan Merah Putih. The main goal of all these steps is the welfare of the people, with affordable food and adequate nutrition.

Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman in a separate statement explained that the exports released this time were part of Malaysia's total demand of 240 thousand tons per year, with an initial demand of 20 thousand tons per month. "Today's release is released in stages, the demand is 20 thousand tons per month. The first is from West Kalimantan, 1,200 tons that were released briefly. Then from NTB 20 thousand tons, then Gorontalo 27 thousand tons. So a total of approximately 50 thousand tons of corn we released this month," explained Minister of Agriculture Amran. The export release event in Bengkayang Regency was the first in history at the location. He also emphasized that this achievement was the fruit of cross-sector collaboration on President Prabowo's big idea, and reflected the strengthening of national food security.
