On 13 March 2025, Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB), Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (KEK), entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC). This agreement pertains to investment in developing land within the Batang KEK under the Two Countries Twin Park (TCTP) programme, a collaborative initiative between Indonesia and China, with an investment target of IDR 60 trillion. This collaboration is expected to develop the first 500 hectares of land and is expected to be the first collaboration under the Two Countries Twin Park (TCTP). The Batang KEK is set to emulate the success of the industrial estate in Shenzhen, China, and accelerate the flow of investment, particularly from China. Besides the TCTP programme in Batang, there are also those in Wijayakusuma Industrial Estate, Semarang, and Bintan Industrial Estate, Riau.
The MoU between CSCEC and Batang Industropolis KEK will collaborate in the planning, development and marketing of the area, and also accelerate the acquisition of strategic tenants in the global industrial supply chain. This partnership is expected to have a significant impact on the development of the Batang Industropolis KEK with improved infrastructure, enhanced industrial ecosystem, and highly attractive investment schemes, thus establishing the Batang Industropolis KEK as a prime destination for global investors. TCTP is a bilateral cooperation programme that has been in effect since 2021, intending to create a balanced investment portfolio between Indonesia and China through the development of integrated industrial estates.
