The Batam Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Batam’s economy continued to show positive growth throughout 2024, driven by industrial recovery, increased investment, and expansion in the services and healthcare sectors. This reinforces Batam’s strategic role as an industrial and investment hub in Indonesia.
According to BPS Batam Head Eko Aprianto, Batam’s economy grew by 6.69% year-on-year (YoY) in 2024. The highest sectoral growth came from Health Services and Social Activities, which expanded by 14.03%, while Government Expenditure recorded the highest growth in spending components at 10.59%. Batam’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached IDR 233.05 trillion, while at constant 2010 prices, it stood at IDR 135.51 trillion. The manufacturing sector remained the largest contributor to GRDP at 56.83%, and investment remained strong, with Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) accounting for 45.59% of total GRDP. With a consistent upward trend in the past five years, Batam is expected to enhance its competitiveness through industrial innovation, infrastructure development, and investment-friendly policies.
