The National Food Agency (Bapanas) said that the plan to import 100 thousand tons of buffalo meat from India is still waiting for confirmation from the government. Deputy I for Food Availability and Stabilization of Bapanas, I Gusti Ketut Astawa stated that until now there has been no official assignment related to the import because they are still waiting for the results of the minutes of the limited coordination meeting (rakortas). He said that we are still waiting for the results of the minutes of the rakortas to come out. Although there is no certainty of assignment, Ketut assured that the current national meat supply is still sufficient, including to face the Eid moment which usually triggers an increase in meat consumption.
Based on the existing data, it's still sufficient. And hopefully the minutes of the coordination meeting will not be long from today, maybe 2-3 days will be out, we will quickly execute the assignments and so on. Regarding the possibility of changes in the import quota, Ketut emphasized that the figure was final according to the decision of the coordination meeting. "I think the decision of the coordination meeting is clear. No increase, clearly 180 thousand tons (beef), then 100 thousand tons of buffalo is clear, I think that's enough. The results of the coordination meeting state that the figure is like that," he explained. However, Ketut added that his party is still waiting for the minutes of the coordination meeting in detail before continuing the import execution steps. But he hasn't received the minutes, and he is still waiting for the detailed minutes.
