The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the number of foreign tourist visits in December 2024 reached 1.24 million visits. This number increased by 13.95% on a monthly basis (month-to-month/mtm) and increased annually (year-on-year/yoy). Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, said that the number of foreign tourist visits in December 2024 through the main entrance reached 1.82 million visits, while through the border entrance there were 161.82 thousand visits.
Cumulatively, throughout 2024, the total number of foreign tourist visits will reach 13.90 million visits, an increase of 19.05% compared to the same period in 2023. Amalia in a BPS release said that the achievement of foreign tourist visits in 2024 is the highest achievement in the last 5 years since 2020, but it is still relatively lower when compared to 2019 before the pandemic which reached 16.1 million visits. Meanwhile, BPS also detailed the number of foreign tourist visits based on nationality. In December 2024, tourists from Malaysia dominated with 222,103 thousand visits, an increase of 26.84% mtm and 4.68% yoy. Followed by tourists from Singapore with 175.54 thousand visits, an increase of 45.74%, and Australia with 148.32 thousand visits, an increase of 14.51%. In terms of average length of stay in December 2024, foreign tourists including cross-border tourists spent around 6.98 nights in Indonesia.
