The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto's grand vision of realizing food and water self-sufficiency. In early 2025, six strategic dams in five provinces will soon be inaugurated, becoming an important part of efforts to strengthen national water resource infrastructure. PU Minister Dody Hanggodo expressed that dams have a vital role in supporting food self-sufficiency, especially in providing irrigation, raw water, and reducing flood risks. We must continue the development of infrastructure like this until the benefits are truly felt by the community.
The six dams that are ready to be inaugurated and the strategic benefits they offer are: 1)Rukoh Dam, Aceh in Pidie Regency with the capacity 128 million m³ with a cost of IDR1.7 trillion. The benefit is to irrigate 11,950 hectares of irrigated land. 2)Keureuto Dam, Aceh in North Aceh Regency with the capacity: 216 million m³ with a cost of IDR 2.73 trillion. It irrigates 9,455 hectares of irrigated land. 3)Jlantah Dam, Central Java in Karanganyar Regency with the capacity: 10.97 million m³ with a budget of IDR 1.02 trillion. It irrigates 1,494 hectares of irrigated land. 4)Sidan Dam, Bali in Badung Regency with the capacity 5.76 million m³ with a budget of IDR 1.8 trillion. 5)Marangkayu Dam, East Kalimantan in Kutai Kartanegara Regency with the capacity 12.3 million m³ with a budget of IDR 191.26 billion. 6)Meninting Dam, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in West Lombok Regency with the capacity 12 million m³ with a budget of IDR 1.4 trillion. Minister Dody emphasized that the construction of this dam not only functions to meet food and water needs, but also as an effort to mitigate flood risks and provide green energy and also encouraging the acceleration of regional development.
