Synergy between KemenUMKM and Logistics Companies to Develop MSMEs

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (KemenUMKM) stated that 97% of jobs in Indonesia come from the MSME sector, which plays a significant role in the national economy. This was revealed by KemenUMKM official Ali Alkatiri during the *J&T Connect Preneur Summit* event in PIK, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (December 3, 2024). In his statement, Ali explained that around 111 million Indonesians work in the MSME sector, which constitutes 99.99% of Indonesia's economic structure. Of this, 99.62% are micro enterprises, 0.3% are small enterprises, and 0.06% are medium enterprises. Ali emphasized the crucial role of MSMEs in providing employment in Indonesia, and warned that if this sector collapses, it would severely impact the future structure of the country's economy.

Ali Alkatiri also highlighted that both large companies and MSMEs are now required to adopt sustainable economic principles in line with the *Sustainable Development Goals* (SDGs). He praised the *J&T Connect Preneur Summit* for bringing together various ministries to collaborate in strengthening the MSME sector. At the event, 500 national MSMEs participated in discussions on key topics such as *social commerce* trends, challenges faced by MSMEs over the past decade, and the importance of building sustainable businesses. Iwan Senjaya, Key Account of J&T Express, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting MSMEs in improving product competence and quality to remain competitive in the global market, especially with the increasing number of e-commerce users in Indonesia, which is expected to continue growing from 2024 to 2029.
